British Gov announces Incentives for Electric Cars

The British Government announces new Incentives for Electric Cars

The British Government has announced a new strategy to puts the electric car within the reach of ordinary motorists in Britain .

The incentive package worth between £2000 and £5000 for every motorist will go towards buying the first electric and plug in cars when they hit British showrooms in 2011.

The British Transport Secretary Geoff Hoon says “ less then 0.1 per cent of the United Kingdom’s 26 million cars are electric so there is a huge untapped potential to reduce emissions.”

The British electric car strategy also has budgeted for £20 million pounds for charging points and the infrastructure needed for Britain’s cities to go electric.
The strategy was launched with cabinet ministers driving the new Mini E electric cars at the Knockhill Racing circuit in Dumferline ,Scotland .
