Airport protests suspended
‘Protest Wellington International Airport: NO WELLYWOOD SIGN!’, the group spearheading protests against the proposed ‘Wellywood’ sign, is suspending its driving protest that was planned for Monday as a sign of good faith, coordinator Andy Boreham said today.
“We were delighted to learn Wellington International Airport is reconsidering its decision following the Wellington City Council resolution against the sign,” Mr Boreham said.
“We would applaud the Airport if it changed its mind over the sign, and as a sign of good faith that we believe it really is listening to the Council and the wishes of the vast majority of Wellington residents, we have agreed to suspend our protest action in the interim.”
“We sincerely hope the Airport is being serious in its reconsideration and we look forward to its decision,” Mr Boreham concluded.
