ALCP congratulate police on drug-dog decision

The finding that police drug-dog searches in schools are illegal is a
victory for human-rights, Aotearoa Legalise Cannabis Party leader and
Wellington Barrister Michael Appleby says.

"The Police admit that searches of schools for drugs without warrant
were a common occurance," he said.

"Hundred of illegal school searches breached the Bill of Rights for
thousands of pupils.

"I congratulate police for finally accepting their actions were
illegal."

Schools are turning to private drug-dog contractors in an effort to
continue seaching the bags of students.

"Private drug search contractors are often run by former police
officers," Mr Appleby said.

"The ALCP question the legality of these companies."
