Another Step Closer to Knowing Where Our Food Comes From

The New Zealand Federation of Business & Professional Women (BPWNZ) is pleased that the Consumers’ Right to Know (Country of Origin Labelling) [CoOL] Bill has passed its first reading.

“Consumers have the right to know where their food comes from and New Zealand’s food producers deserve the support that is derived from consumers being able to make informed choices,” says President Vicky Mee.

“Now that the CoOL Bill will be considered by a select committee, we look forward to the discussion and consideration of submissions that will see country of origin labelling on single ingredient food a requirement.

“Country of origin labelling of single ingredient food empowers both consumers and producers which can only be good for New Zealand,” says Ms Mee.
