Countdown To Otari’s 24 Hour Bioblitz

This Friday and Saturday the richness of Otari Wilton’s Bush will be exposed and celebrated in the city’s first ever Bioblitz.

The Bioblitz is being organised by Otari Wilton’s Bush Trust and the Wellington City Council, with the support of many organisations including the local Otari School and Victoria University.

Trust Board members Phil Parnell and Johanne McComish said “the Trust warmly invites all Wellingtonians and out of town visitors to join in the excitement of the Bioblitz activities.

“In a race against the clock, from 3pm on Friday for 24 hours, scientists can be observed in action counting as many different living species as they can find.

“There will be something for everyone – tree top searches, hourly guided walks and talks by prominent scientists, a celebratory dawn ceremony on Saturday, glow-worm viewing and barbecues, plus scientists at work non-stop with their microscopes, computers, Petri dishes and displays.”
