Further expansion of the new online guide to New Zealand’s environment

The Environment Foundation* has expanded its recently launched web-based guide to the management of New Zealand’s natural environment (www.environmentguide.org.nz).

The Environment Guide’s beta site was launched back in December 2014 with comprehensive material on the Resource Management Act and the Exclusive Economic Zone Act.

“The Guide provides freely accessible, practical and user-friendly information on the wide range of laws and policies which apply to New Zealand’s environment,” said Environment Foundation Chairperson Raewyn Peart.

“The website is intended to assist individuals, community groups, landowners and businesses to better participate in environmental decision-making processes.

“In this second phase of its development, the website has been expanded to cover a broad range of subjects including:

• Subdivision

• Renewable energy
•
• Landscape
•
• Natural character
•
• Freshwater
•
• Biodiversity
•
• Coastal environment
•
• Genetic modification
•
• Aquaculture
•
• Fishing
•
• Marine
•
• Minerals

“The Environment Foundation would like to acknowledge the generous support provided by the New Zealand Law Foundation, Prometheus and the Waitakere Ranges Protection Society for the project. This has enabled the Foundation to develop a high quality website with comprehensive material on environmental decision-making in New Zealand.
