Israel Confuses Teachers, Students With Criminals

Israeli Government Confuses Teachers, Students With Dangerous Criminals

[Ben Gurion Airport] In the past 24 hours, the Israeli government has attempted to label two humanitarian aide workers and peace activists as "security risks" and send them back to their respective countries in chains.

David Watson, a 35-year-old teacher and humanitarian aide worker, from Britain, and Michael Sheikh, a student and activist, are both being treated like terrorists because of their suspected associations with the International Solidarity Movement. Both will appeal their decision, and plan to resist deportation until they have excercised their legal right to a hearing before the District Court.

The detentions and threatened deportations come at a time when the Israeli High Court has ruled that two ISM peaceworkers, Tobias Karlsson and Tarek Loubani, were not proven enough of a security risk to be denied bail in their ongoing attempt to resist deportation.
