Uranium deal, new coal mine destroys Australia's claim to leadership on climate change at APEC

A new opinion poll to be released this morning shows most Australians want action on climate change to happen through Kyoto and by setting binding targets to reduce greenhouse emissions.

The opinion poll also shows that few Australians have any faith in an approach to tackle climate change through APEC.

Greenpeace will release the findings of the national opinion poll at the APEC International NGO Media Centre at 10am and highlight how a uranium deal with Russia and pursuit of new coal mines destroys any claim the Australian Government can make to leadership on climate change at APEC.
