World Continence Awareness 21 June – 2 July
2010
‘Why put up
with wet knickers if you don’t have
to’
The International
Continence Society has announced an international campaign
to raise awareness of incontinence issues. Incontinence
affects millions of men and women around the
world.
650,000 people experience urinary incontinence in New Zealand. The campaign aims to bring communities together to build a better understanding of urinary and bowel incontinence and to promote a multidisciplinary approach to treatment. Many people with incontinence do not know how to seek help or that there are effective treatments for incontinence.
The campaign will open people’s eyes to the very common problem of incontinence and also to the many options for help. People need the answers they are looking for when it comes to solutions.
The NZ Continence Association offers a free, confidential free phone helpline (0800 650 659). They will post you continence information and can refer you to a free continence service in your area. www.continence.org.nz
