You Alone Did Not Elect Obama

You know what Progressive in politics means these days? Progressive in politics these days means to win the lottery yet still complain about the $1.00 you had to pay for the ticket.

Although I am an Independent now, I had been a Democrat for decades and I wholeheartedly agree with President Obama and Vice President Biden Anyone with any common sense that reads the recent Rolling Stone article can see that the President is trying to remind his "base" that there have been some good things accomplished during the 20 months of his young administration, in spite of their constant cynicism.

I will say this once again, Barack Obama did not run as a Progressive so those waiting for him to throw on his "down with Republicans" cap and Firedoglake t-shirt and storm the capitol building should wake up and smell the tea (party)!

We have serious problems in this country and our President does not have time to babysit his "base". If Progressives are still not happy, I say they should stick a pacifier in it and grow up! In case they forgot, the President of the United States DOES NOT pass laws! There’s only so much he can do with Blue Dog Democrats consistently voting against their own party’s interests and Republicans hell bent on doing WHATEVER it takes to take control of Congress…even voting against things they were for just last year. You do what you can with the cards you are dealt. (BTW, why haven't I seen Progressives going strong after some of these people?!)

I honestly don't mean to stomp down on Progressives too hard but this is really getting silly and bordering on comical. I have never seen a group more intent in looting their own house as this group. Maybe they should take some lessons from the Tea Party. They may dislike Republicans too but it'll be a cold day in hell before they throw one under the bus when the alternative is a Democrat.

And I have news for all the self-righteous Progressives, contrary to popular belief, you were not the ones who put President Obama over the top in his election. Many, if not all, of you voted for Al Gore and John Kerry and how far did that get them? What put Obama over the top in the last Presidential election, over more recent Democratic nominees, were Independents and a larger than normal outpouring of young people, minorities and first time voters...many of whom don't know Progressive from Democrat and frankly don't care! I'm not saying that the President does not need Progressives too but I am saying that I think they sometimes overstate their importance and understate others.

My Mom used to say, the only people usually upset about the grades a teacher gives are those who failed. In other words, the only people upset about President Obama’s remarks are those living in the glass house he just hit.
