Fiji Constitution Burning Saga

Fiji Constitution Burning Saga

Editor,

If " nobody [is] making convincing sense" to Allen Lockington "regarding the saga about the draft constitution burning" (Fiji Sun 10/1) then I have a feeling Allen has been listening to the wrong people. I suggest he take a look at what the former Head of USP's Journalism School Marc Edge has to say on the matter at http://fijimediawars.blogspot.com/2013/01/yash-ghai-smear-campaign-well-under-way.html?m=1. And, what the former publisher of the Fiji Sun Russel Hunter has to say. ( 'Fiji constitution needs a look' Letters The Australian 10/1). Hunter says in the opening sentence of his letter to editor , "with great respect to Sharon smith-Johns(letter 8/1) I suggest a neutral observer would prefer Professor Yash Ghai's version of events surrounding the burning of the Fiji constitution. After all. he was there and Smith-Johns wasn't".

If as a "neutral observer" Allen Lockington remains unconvinced about what transpired then I am afraid I have no further suggestion to offer him. Perhaps Mr lockington needs to examine his own neutrality.

Sincerely,

Rajend Naidu

Sydney.
