Statement by UNDP Administrator Helen Clark on Death of Boutros Boutros-Ghali

UNDP is deeply saddened by the death of former UN Secretary-General Boutros Boutros-Ghali today. Mr. Boutros-Ghali led the United Nations admirably at a challenging time in its history for five years from January 1992. In those turbulent times, the United Nations was called upon increasingly to keep the peace.

Boutros Boutros-Ghali will be remembered for his unwavering belief in international diplomacy and his commitment to the ideals and aspirations of the United Nations to create a peaceful, secure, and just world.
