1 May 2026
The Baegu-Asifola Constituency (BAC), under the leadership of Honourable Minister of Forestry & Research Makario Tagini, has successfully wrapped up the implementation of its 2025 Constituency Development Funds (CDF) program.
This followed a major shipment of projects to the constituency on 24 March 2026 to support approved projects under the 2025 funding allocation.
This delivery also marks the final implementation phase of the $3.2 million allocation under the CDF Preferred Supplier Arrangement (PSA) component to Baegu-Asifola, in accordance with the CDF Act 2023 guidelines.
Constituency Development Officer (CDO) Libo Idufanoa said the projects were delivered under four main categories in compliance with the CDF Act 2023. These include Productive and Resource Sector, Essential Services, Cross-Sectoral, and Social & Cultural.
Beneficiaries include:
CDO Idufanoa said this achievement underscores the constituency’s office's ongoing commitment to supporting individuals, organized interest groups, and communities within Baegu-Asifola through transparent and equitable distribution of resources.
Constituency Project Officer (CPO) Balasido Boeau further stated that other materials delivered included a new Rural Health Centre in the constituency, with site clearance now progressing, seven (7) OBM engines for those who already have boats, and water tanks for families that walk long distances to fetch water.
Mr. Boeau said that the delivery was successful, with beneficiaries and communities expressing gratitude to the government and the constituency office for the support.
He also thanked Honourable Minister Makario for his continued support to the constituency office to ensure services and projects continue to benefit the communities.
Meanwhile, CDO Idufanoa acknowledged the Government, through the Ministry of Rural Development (MRD), for its continuous support towards BAC to implement the 2025 CDF-funded projects.
He also recognized the people of BAC for their continued support, patience, and understanding despite the delayed delivery.
This project delivery is a testament to and demonstration of the government’s commitment to rural development through MRD to support and improve rural livelihoods, even in small ways.
"This support under the CDF program is aimed at improving the livelihoods of our people in our most remote rural communities. Despite limited resources and finances, the government will continue to support constituency offices to facilitate progress, though in a small but meaningful way, in and for our rural areas and people."
