League contract extension

Fiji Bati player Sunia Turuva will remain with Wests Tigers through until 2030.

Turuva, originally contracted until the end of 2027, has put pen-to-paper on a three-year extension.

Turuva said he is happy at the club as they continue to build their game under coach Benji Marshall.

Drua women's sponsorship

The Fijian Drua women's rugby team has secured McDonald's Fiji as their new sponsor for the 2026 Super Rugby Women's season.

The sponsorship was jointly announced by the Drua and McDonald's Fiji management at the Drua home base in Nadi on Wednesday.

Drua CEO Jeff Miller said the sponsorship acknowledge the power and appeal of women's rugby in Fiji.

The Drua women's team will meet Waratahs women in a pre-season trial match in Suva on Saturday, before the two teams meet again in the 2026 Super Rugby Women's season opener on 6 June in Sydney.

Drua contract extension

Taupo-born Sairusi Ravudi has extended his Fijian Drua contract until 2028.

The club says Ravudi, recruited this year as one of 12 players in the development squad, has impressed since making his debut against the Brumbies in Ba in round five.

Ravudi says he is grateful and blessed to be given the chance to sign full-time with the Drua, having grown up and played his rugby in New Zealand.

General manager of the team's high performance unit Baden Stephenson said Ravudi has made an immediate impact at the club.

Rugby eligibility

Former England rugby number eight Billy Vunipola says he will not switch to play for Tonga at the 2027 Rugby World Cup, even though he is eligible to do so.

Planet Rugby reports Vunipola was proud to represent his Tongan heritage while playing for England.

Vunipola, whose dad Fe'ao was an 'Ikale Tahi captain, said he does not want to block a young Tongan player from making the team by making himself available for Tonga.

Meanwhile, his brother Mako has been recalled to the England squad to prepare for the upcoming Nations Championship in July.
