Short Forecast valid to midnight tomorrow:

The north and west of the North Island from Northland to Wellington, also for the central high country and Bay of Plenty: Showers and fine periods. Thunderstorms in many places today.

Gisborne to Wairarapa: Showers about the ranges today otherwise fine. Tomorrow showers spreading to much of Wairarapa later, further north remaining dry.

Nelson and the South Island west coast: Showery for much of the time. Skies clearing later tomorrow from Hokitika south.

Marlborough, Canterbury, Otago and Southland: A few showers continuing about northern Marlborough today otherwise mainly fine. Tomorrow showers becoming widespread for a time.

Chatham Islands: Rain breaking to showers tomorrow with northeast winds easing.
