For the north and west of the North Island from Northland to Wellington, also for the central plateau and Bay of Plenty: Cloudy at times with a few showers. Becoming fine tomorrow.

In the east from Gisborne to Wairarapa: A few showers clearing overnight. Fine tomorrow.

Nelson and Marlborough: A mix of cloud and fine breaks.

South Island west coast: Mostly cloudy. Tomorrow, patchy rain about Fiordland with cloudy periods further north.

Canterbury: Skies clearing inland but some cloud about the coast. Drizzle there from tonight. Mainly fine inland tomorrow but cloudy about the coast chiefly morning and night.

Otago and Southland: Fine inland but cloudy about the coast. Tomorrow, high cloud increasing but remaining dry.

Chatham Islands: Cloudy with the odd light shower.
