Foodtown Greenlane To Open 24 Hours

MEDIA RELEASE 25 September 2000

FOODTOWN GREENLANE TO OPEN 24 HOURS

From Monday 2 October 2000, Foodtown's flagship store in Greenlane, Auckland, will be open 24 hours a day seven days a week.

The move coincides with the beginning of daylight saving but Foodtown management say the store will operate 24 hours a day all year round.

"There has been an increasing demand for 24 hour availability as people's shopping habits change. The central location, combined with the size of the store, make our Greenlane store a natural choice," Foodtown's Divisional Manager, Dave Chambers said.

"Being located close to the southern motorway and other main roads means that Foodtown Greenlane is easily accessible to a large number of Aucklanders," he added.

Until now, the Greenlane Foodtown store has been opening until midnight, Monday to Friday, and 10pm weekends. McDonald's has been trading 24 hours on the same site on the corner of Great South and Greenlane roads for some time.

The store's fresh bakery section and delicatessen will be among the special serviced areas open overnight.
