Water Pressure Group Do

Hi people!

Just a reminder notice about our end of year "do"!

The WPG is desperate for dough!

We took our fire engine today (Saturday 9 Dec) on the Otahuhu Santa Parade (the Otahuhu Business Association were delighted to have us on the
parade), with our new signage, reading:

"DON'T PAY YOUR WASTE WATER BILL! HAND BACK YOUR WATER METER!"

"IT'S TIME FOR THOUSANDS OF US TO UNPLUG METROWATER OURSELVES!"

"DON'T JUST MOAN - JUST DON'T PAY! IT'S PEOPLE POWER TIME!"

Must be a first, a community group with a highly political message, calling for civil disobedience on a Santa parade! We had a great day! Over our loudspeaker system, we gave it heaps!

" Santa Claus says ho ho ho! Metrowater's got to go!"

" Don't pay your wastewater bill! Have a happy Christmas! Ho ho ho!"

The streets of Otahuhu were FULL of people, and we have now exhausted our supply of leaflets, which showed which part of the Metrowater bill NOT to pay, and the handy little letter which people could cut off and include in their bill to dispute the wastewater charges as being unreasonable. Had a wonderful response from the crowd, and gave demonstrations to a number of people before the parade started on how easy it was to unrestrict water meters!

So, folks -we really are hamstrung by lack of funds to put out another 90,000 leaflets to cover the rest of the Auckland City area, to encourage thousands of households to join the boycott. (It will cost at least $3000 to put out this leaflet.)
