AUCKLAND CITY REAPPOINTS
CHIEF EXECUTIVE, BRYAN TAYLOR
Auckland City has reappointed its chief executive, 59 year old Bryan Taylor who has headed the country’s largest city council for the past five years, since June 1996.
With his contract period due to end in July, the council chose to advertise the position internationally.
Today’s announcement follows intensive interviews earlier this month with the shortlisted applicants by a sub-committee of Auckland City councillors with the assistance of a recruitment consultant.
Contract negotiations have now been concluded and the agreement signed this afternoon.
Advertisements for the position attracted about 15 replies which resulted in the shortlist of four candidates.
Before taking up the chief
executive post in June 1996, Bryan Taylor had seven years in
director positions with Auckland City.
An Aucklander,
Bryan Taylor gained a Bachelor of Science degree at Auckland
University, studied at Melbourne College of Theology and St
Johns College.
More recently, he completed a certificate
in the Harvard programme in state and local government at
Harvard University, Massachusetts.
Mr Taylor is a Justice of the Peace and an Ordained Priest of the Anglican Church.
