City Vision ARC Team

MEDIA RELEASE

City Vision Arc Team

City Vision today announced its team for the Regional Council in the Auckland constituency.

ARC Members Jack Henderson and Mike Lee are standing for re-election, and are joined by Jill Amos and John Hill.

City Vision is a local team endorsed by Labour, the Alliance, and community independents, campaigning to “Keep Auckland Ours”

City Vision believes that effective regional government is important if the problems of urban sprawl, transport and environmental degradation are to be surmounted in a clean, prosperous region of the future.

An environmentalist and former Chairman of the ARC Parks committee 1992-95
Mike Lee has been very much a back-bencher since his return to the C & R
dominated ARC in 1998. Mike led the opposition to the Auckland Councils'
plans to spend $112m on leasing Auckland’s rail corridors from Tranz Rail.

Jack Henderson, a first-term Councillor and Labour Party member, has worked to improve Auckland’s environmental management and public transport and limit sprawl. A former Director of Friends of the Earth NZ, he works in communications and computing, has two children and was involved with Playcentre for seven years.

Jill Amos, a Labour life member, has worked in education for fifty years. She is a former Member of the ARA and Manukau City Council, the New Zealand Board of Health, and the Auckland Hospital Board. She was a foundation member of the New Zealand AIDS foundation.

John Hill, is an architect with local body experience and a keen interest in Auckland regional growth issues-containment of sprawl, better transport systems, and quality
urban design. Chair of the Auckland Central Alliance, he is a director of Housing NZ Corporation, and is a member of the Building Industry Authority.
