Elaboration On Asian Meeting
Tuesday, 21 August 2001, 10:56 am
Press Release: Christchurch City Council
20 August 2001
Christchurch's Mayor Garry Moore
emphasised that the meeting of Asian and community leaders
today did not discuss recent violence incidents in
Christchurch.
He said the meeting, at which a working
party was set up, had its focus completely on providing
support for Asian students in the city. He said the support
had to be viewed in the broadest sense, he said. For
example social needs, health, educational, and accommodation
had to be considered.
The meeting was most positive in
this area.
