New Deputy Mayor
appointed
Auckland City’s newly elected administration
voted in Cr. David Hay as its Deputy Mayor at today’s
inaugural council meeting.
Mayor John Banks said he was
very pleased with the appointment.
“David Hay’s experience
and talents will be of enormous benefit to this council and
I warmly welcome his appointment,’ Mr Banks said.
Cr Hay
succeeds Dr Bruce Hucker in the position.
David Hay is a
councillor for the Avondale/Roskill ward and was previously
Auckland City Deputy Mayor from 1991 to 1998. He was also a
councillor on the Mt. Roskill Borough Council from 1983 to
1989.

One feels reluctant to pre-empt the verdict of history, but maybe we need to have a Plan B in mind just in case the reign of King Charles III turns out badly.
