Project Management Seminar For Manukau Arts Groups

7 May 2002

The second in a series of subsidised arts management seminars in Manukau is now open for registrations.

Focusing on project management skills for community arts groups, the seminar will be held on Saturday 25 May, 9am to 4.30pm at Council’s Civic Centre, Wiri Station Road, Manukau.

Council’s Creative Communities Funding co-ordinator Jeanine Gribbin explains that project management means achieving a project’s goals on time and within budget, by the efforts of other people. “It’s a highly useful skill to have especially when you are organising a show, exhibition, concert or any event.

“This seminar will teach participants about the ins and outs of project management, the organisation involved, the scope, time and cost management, tracking, and above all, people management.”

Presenter, Rob Verkerk is a well-known project management consultant who lectures at Executive Programmes and the School of Creative and Performing Arts at the University of Auckland. He has created this seminar specifically for community arts groups.

Manukau arts groups are encouraged to take up this opportunity provided by the Manukau City Creative Communities Committee and the University of Auckland.

The first seminar on obtaining funding, was well attended and well received by attendees. Upcoming seminars in the series include the topics of marketing and sponsorship.

The seminar cost is $35 per person. Spaces are limited. For a registration form call Jeanine on 262-8900 ext 8941.
