Canterbury Crusaders Victory Tickertape Parade

25 May 2002

The Canterbury Crusaders have won the Super 12 rugby final over ACT Brumbies.

The Telecom Super 12 trophy returns to Canterbury, and a victory parade will be held on Monday, 27 May, where families and fans will see the Crusaders up close, with an appearance by the Canterbury Crusader Horses adding extra excitement.

“Monday will be an opportunity for Cantabrians to come out in their thousands to celebrate this Super 12 victory, “ says Christchurch Mayor Garry Moore.

“We are a province that Lives Tall and this is a great way that we can show our support for this superb, sustained effort by the Crusaders.”

Beginning at the Moorhouse Avenue and Colombo Street intersection at 12 noon, the parade will run along Colombo Street, finishing at Hereford Street. Cantabrians are encouraged to wear team colours, and the parade will be held rain or shine. Tickertape will be available, from the ground floor of the City Council Civic Offices in Tuam Street, on Monday morning at 8.30am, and will be distributed prior to the parade by National Bank staff.

- Mobility parking for the disabled will be available in Cathedral Square, near the Southern Encounter Aquarium. Mobility stickers must be displayed.

- No Parking will be permitted on Colombo Street between 11am and 1.30pm.

- We request that every attempt be made to observe safety along the parade route, especially around vehicles and animals.

- A special vehicle in front of the parade will be made available to identified media for photography purposes on a first-come, first-served basis. Please respect the needs of other media when using this vehicle.
