Banks calls for daybreak commemoration on Sept 11

At sunrise September 11 Auckland Mayor John Banks and the Principal Officer from the United States Consulate General, Mr Doug Berry, will commemorate the first anniversary of September 11 by raising then lowering the New Zealand and US flags on the Auckland Harbour Bridge.

The flags will be flown at half-mast and lowered at sunset.

The Royal New Zealand Navy will play Taps during the sunrise commemoration.

This will be the first commemorative activity marking the anniversary of September 11 in the world.
