Khyber Pass & Boston Rd Closures
Khyber Pass & Boston Rd Closures
Transit New Zealand advises all motorists that there will be road closures in the Newmarket area on three nights this week to allow for work on Stage 1 of the Central Motorway (Spaghetti) Junction upgrading project.
Tuesday 19 November: Parts of Khyber Pass road will be closed from 9pm until 6am on Wednesday morning to allow for strengthening work on the motorway to take place. A traffic diversion will be in place and all traffic travelling west (towards Newton and the motorway) will be diverted through Boston Road and Nugent Street. The closure includes the Khyber Pass on and off ramps. Traffic travelling towards Newmarket will be largely unaffected, but lane changes will be required in some areas.
Wednesday 20 November: The Khyber Pass motorway on-ramp (southbound) will be closed from 9pm until 6am to allow for strengthening work on the motorway above. Motorists are advised to use Symonds Street, Grafton Road or St Marks on-ramps to access the motorway.
Thursday 21 November: Boston Road will be closed from the roundabout at Normandy Road/Nugent Street and Khyber Pass Road from 9pm and 6am. All lane changes and diversions will be clearly sign-posted.
Pedestrians and cyclists are advised to take care when travelling in this area.
Transit thanks all road users for their cooperation and apologises in advance for any inconvenience.
Further information about the project is available from the public information centre at the corner of Stanley Street & Alten Road or by phoning 0800 ToFreeflow (0800 863 733).
