Huttcity Trustpower Community Awards

The Hutt City TrustPower Community Awards were presented to successful community groups in Hutt City at a special presentation evening held in Council Chambers last night (Monday 18 November).

The awards aim to recognise community groups who dedicate hours of voluntary time and energy every year in making Hutt City a better place to live.

The Supreme Award went to the Walter Nash Stadium Trust in recognition of the wonderful work they have achieved in the community in administering the Walter Nash Stadium for sporting, leisure and cultural events that have a strong emphasis on youth. The Trust administer the stadium on a totally voluntary basis for the benefit of the Hutt City community on a very cost effective basis to ensure it is not beyond the capacity of any organisation wishing to hire this facility.

Around 240,000 people use the stadium annually, approximately 80% of whom are young people between the ages of 5 and 20. The Trust also donates the use of the stadium on occasions to established charitable organisations for the furtherance of their projects.

The Walter Nash Stadium Trust have been selected as the supreme winner of the award for Hutt City and will represent the city at the national awards in Rotorua in March next year. Other Hutt City community groups that were recognised at the awards evening last night were:
