Transfund New Zealand changes the guard

Media Release Embargoed until 12.30pm

Transfund New Zealand changes the guard

Transfund New Zealand is 'changing the guard' with the appointment of a new chief executive closely following two senior Board changes.

Wayne Donnelly, currently chief executive of Rodney District Council, has been appointed as Transfund's new chief executive. He is expected to take up the appointment in April 2003.

Chairman David Stubbs said Mr Donnelly would bring a wealth of experience in civil engineering, contracting, local government and the transport sector to Transfund.

"The Board is looking forward to working with Mr Donnelly and we believe his skills will add a great deal of value to the organisation," Mr Stubbs said.

Late last month, Minister of Transport, Paul Swain announced that Mr Stubbs, deputy chair of the Transfund Board, would succeed outgoing chairman Michael Gross, with Board member Jan Wright succeeded Mr Stubbs as deputy chair.

Mr Stubbs said he wanted to acknowledge the contribution made by Mr Gross in leading Transfund through its first six years.

In doing so, Mr Gross has earned the respect and trust of colleagues in government and the entire land transport sector, Mr Stubbs said.
