Tough new bus lane enforcement daily results
Early indications, based on the first three days of monitoring the Auckland City Council's tough new bus lane enforcement measures, show that the compliance levels are increasing.
In the morning peak, the number of cars illegally using the bus and bike lane on Great South Road have dropped from 20 to 11, on Mt Eden Road from 59 to 11 and on Sandringham Road a dramatic drop from 118 to 12.
The biggest change, however, has occurred on Mt Eden
Road in the afternoon peak. The bus lane near Pencarrow Road
(approaching the Balmoral Road intersection) had an average
of 136 infringements per day in the middle of 2002. This had
dropped to two per day in the first three days of
enforcement.
