Review delayed till 2006

North Shore City Council won't review the way its politicians are elected until 2006.

At the city's strategy and finance committee this month, councillors decided to defer a review of electoral representation arrangements for three years.

A recent amendment to the Local Electoral Act 2001 required the council to review the current system this year, or in 2006.

Committee chairperson, Tony Holman, says the membership and basis of election arrangements which were in place for the last elections of council and the city's six community boards (held in October 2001), would be the same for the 2004 elections.

For information about North Shore City's elected members, people are invited to visit the council's website, www.northshorecity.govt.nz
