Land sale for Pacific Events Centre site approved

Council gives its approval to land sale for Pacific Events Centre site

The Manukau City Council has given its approval for the sale of 10.48 hectares of land adjacent to TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre currently being constructed between SH1 and Great South Road in Manurewa.

The purchaser is Eldamos Investments Limited, the property development arm of the Warehouse Limited.

“The Council recognised the sale of the adjacent land was a key milestone for the development of the Telstra Clear Pacific Events Centre”, said Deputy Mayor Anne Candy. “We are pleased that a balance has been struck between benefits to the Events Centre and the city as a whole”.

“The forecasted economic benefits and contribution to the continuing development of the city centre within the Eldamos plans were a key element in the Council’s positive decision. Their plans are a clear sign of confidence in the city’s growth, development and positive future”.

The development, which includes a hotel, restaurants and educational/student accommodation, will differ from current Warehouse structures in its reflection of the communities it serves and the iconic nature of the events centre creating a unique site in the region.

“It is fitting that one of the city’s major employers is to play such an important role in this landmark amenity”, Anne Candy said.
