Current Targeted Winter Aerial Operation Now Over – Thursday 12 June 2003

The first targeted winter aerial operation against the painted apple moth is now over. Today’s (Thursday 12 June) operation, across all the winter target areas covered a total area of less than 900 hectares in just over 3 hours.

The aircraft, a small fixed-wing plane, took off at 7am this morning and completed spraying all 5 winter target areas by 11.15am today. There was no spraying between 8am and 9am - the time most children travel to school.

Weather permitting, the next targeted winter aerial operation is planned for
Wednesday 2 July.
