TRAFFIC BULLETIN
Khyber Pass on-ramp and local road closures
Transit New Zealand advises that there will be closures of the Khyber Pass on-ramp and surrounding local roads throughout July.
- Khyber Pass on-ramp will be closed to traffic from 7am Sunday until 6am Monday each week. The closures are required to allow essential work on the on-ramp.
- Khyber Pass on-ramp will continue to be
closed at night from Monday to Thursday each week. The night
closures are to allow work to continue on widening of the
Viaduct above, and will occur intermittently until March
2004.
Motorists are requested to use alternative on-ramps
during the closures which will be clearly
signposted.
Motorists can also expect some closures from 9pm to 6am in the Khyber Pass/Boston Road area throughout July. The diversions, which will be clearly signposted, will affect:
- Khyber Pass Road traffic travelling westbound, i.e. motorists heading towards Newton and the motorway, will be diverted through Boston Road.
- Boston Road traffic coming from Mt Eden to Newmarket which will be diverted to Khyber Pass Road via Auburn Street.
The work is part of Stage 1 of the Central Motorway Junction upgrading project which, when completed, will improve the efficiency and safety of the motorway, as well as access to and from the motorway network.
For more information on the project, visit the project information centre at the corner of Stanley Street and Alten Road, phone 0800 ToFreeflow (0800 863 733) or visit the Transit website www.transit.govt.nz.
