Auckland City reaffirms support for Farmers Santa Parade

Auckland City Council has reaffirmed its support for the 2003 Farmers Santa Parade by contributing $70,000 in sponsorship.

The annual parade is a much-loved community tradition. It has long been an icon event on the Auckland calendar which generations of Aucklanders remember and look forward to.

Auckland City has contributed significant sponsorship since 1995. The parade now involves more than 4,000 participants.

Auckland’s first real Christmas Parade took place in 1947. It has grown up with the city to the point where more than 250,000 people from the region now line the streets of central Auckland to see its spectacular floats.

Pam Glaser, General Manager of the Farmers Santa Parade, ensures the success of the event each year.

The next Parade will be held on Sunday 30 November.
