Search intensifies for missing Featherston girl

Search intensifies for missing Featherston girl

It’s been 24 hours since missing Featherston six-year-old Coral Ellen Burrows has been seen and police are becoming increasingly concerned for her safety.

Senior Sergeant Murray Johnston, Wairarapa Police, says the search for Coral intensified this morning with thirty police and civilian volunteers from Wellington joining the search.

Coral was dropped off at South Featherston School at 9am yesterday by her step father but she didn’t attend class. Police were alerted late yesterday afternoon when her mother went to pick her daughter up and found she hadn’t been at school.

A helicopter was used last night to support a ground search of farm land and waterways in the rural area and the search has resumed again this morning.

Coral is a Caucasian with shoulder length brown hair. When last seen she was wearing a fluro pink quilted jacket, red pants with one white stripe down each leg, blue t shirt and carrying a red backpack with black shoulder straps.

Police are asking people to search buildings on their property in case Coral has taken shelter from the wet weather, or has fallen and injured herself.

They’re also appealing for people who may have seen Coral in the Featherston to South Featherston area to urgently contact police.
