Police focus on information received


Police remain focused on information received from the inquiry team. Information, including sightings of cars and people will continue to be followed up and worked through in detail.

Police continue to appeal for sightings of a beige/fawn coloured Lada sedan in Featherston, Greytown, Martinborough or South Wairarapa on Tuesday of last week between the hours of 12.30pm and 3.30pm.

Also police are still interested in sightings of a white Lada or Fiat station wagon in the vicinity of the Double Bridges area, South Featherston Road or the wider South Wairarapa on Tuesday or Wednesday of last week.

Searches today included:

• A helicopter search included rechecks of Lake Wairarapa, Ruamahanga River, Western Lake Road and shore areas due to the recent high winds.

• 40 family members searched farm properties in the Judds Road area.

• Specialist search group continued with the search of Coral’s house in Woodward Street today and expect to be there again tomorrow.

Some of these areas were selected on the basis of information received from the inquiry team.

Wellington District Commander John Kelly was in Featherton this morning meeting with the Operation Reef inquiry team.

"I am very impressed with the motivation and commitment shown by the operation inquiry team. I have complete admiration for the Operation’s leadership and dedication shown by the whole team. The goodwill and offers of help from the community is overwhelming. The level of support here is really tremendous," said Mr Kelly.
