New Co-ordinator Welcomed at Anchorage Park

Media Release

New Co-ordinator Welcomed on Board at Anchorage Park

Manukau City Council welcomes Terri Marchant as the new Co-ordinator of the Anchorage Park Community House in Pakuranga.

Terri is a former veterinary nurse who is passionate about animals. She has worked for many years with the SPCA as an animal welfare inspector. She also runs a wildlife clinic from her home where she cares for sick hedgehogs, frogs, lizards, birds and New Zealand native insects.

Terri’s other passion is Guides and she is the current Regional Co-ordinator for Manukau Guides.

She is keen to raise the awareness of the House in the community and is especially keen to promote the crèche which operates Monday to Friday 9.00am to 12.00pm.

“There are spaces available at the crèche at the moment for children aged six months to five years. I would like to encourage our local mums to take advantage of this great facility. They can leave their children in our care and have some timeout, go shopping or get their hair done.

“The crèche is also available for hire for children’s birthday parties at a reasonable rate and don’t forget we have a fabulous after school care programme,” says Terri.

“My new role involves networking with as many community groups as possible to inform them firstly that the community house exists and also to encourage them to take advantage of our programmes and facilities,” says Terri.

Look out for the new fitness phenomenon Pilates which is being introduced shortly. The Community House Committee is also keen to bring back the card and board game class this term as well.

Terri is keen to emphasis the house is there to serve the needs of the community and the costs are nominal. If you would like more information on the venue or the courses run at the House, please call in and see Terri and the team at 16 Swan Crescent, Pakuranga or phone them on 576 5381.
