Layout of SH1 and Gillies Ave on-ramp changed

Layout of SH1 and Gillies Ave on-ramp changed

Transit New Zealand advises motorists using the Gillies Ave on-ramp that the layout of the ramp has temporarily changed. On-ramp traffic now enters the motorway in a separate lane rather than merging directly with motorway traffic.

The change, which will be in place until mid-November, is necessary to allow construction of a new sign gantry foundation on the side of the motorway.

There may be some delays in this area for through traffic heading north on the Southern Motorway (SH1) as the lane gain between the Newmarket viaduct and Gillies Ave on-ramp has been deleted.

Motorists should take care through the area as they adjust to the changed layout.

Transit thanks motorists for their understanding and co-operation.

For more information regarding the changes, please phone 0800 TO FREEFLOW (863 733) or visit the public information centre on the corner of Alten Rd and Stanley St, Grafton.

The CMJ Project
Stage 1 of Transit’s Central Motorway Junction upgrade project covers the section of motorway between the Upper Queen Street over-bridge and Gillies Avenue on- and off-ramps and is scheduled for completion in 2005.
