Transit NZ Traffic Bulletin

CMJ TRAFFIC BULLETIN

From 6am Thursday 15 January, the layout of the Southern Motorway northbound lanes between the Gillies Ave on-ramp and the Khyber Pass off-ramp will have changed.

Construction work is moving from the shoulder of the motorway to the median area. The ‘contraflow’ lane currently in place will be removed and all traffic lanes will be shifted west, closer to the rock wall.

The new layout also means Gillies Ave on-ramp traffic will now enter the motorway in a separate lane, rather than merging directly with motorway traffic.

Motorists are advised to take care through the area and be wary of changes to lane markings.

The changes are weather dependent and will be postponed in the event of bad weather.

Regular closures:

Gillies Ave on-ramp – CLOSED - from 7am Sunday 18 January until 6am Monday morning (19 January).

CLOSED - from 8pm until 6am each night, Sunday 18 through to Thursday 22 January:

Khyber Pass on and off-ramps Gillies Ave on-ramp Port and Wellesley Street off-ramp Northwestern- Southern Motorway link (SH16 – SH1 link) SH16 Wellesley Street off-ramp

There will also be ongoing north and southbound lane closures at night on the Southern Motorway between the Gillies Avenue on and off-ramps and the Symonds Street over-bridge until 2005.

Please choose alternative on- and off-ramps during these times. Motorists are advised that there could be delays. The CMJ Project Stage 1 of Transit’s Central Motorway Junction upgrade project covers the section of motorway between the Upper Queen Street over-bridge and Gillies Avenue on- and off-ramps and is scheduled for completion in 2005.
