Council To Survey Residents

NEWS RELEASE
from Hutt City Council
3 March 2004

COUNCIL TO SURVEY RESIDENTS

Hutt City Council's research company will begin surveying residents about their satisfaction with Council's performance and levels of service from Friday 12 March.

"One of this Council's core values is 'to be the best', said Chief Executive Rik Hart.

"This survey is one of the ways we measure progress towards our business goals and also forms an integral part of Council's performance management system."

"We have a responsibility to track how well our efforts are carrying through to our residents. The best way to do this is to interview a representative cross-section of residents, and to have this done by an independent, professional group to ensure impartiality.

People living in all six Wards of the City will be telephoned, using a randomised selection method, and asked their opinions on a wide ranging list of services and issues relating to Council and the services it delivers to the residents of the City.

The survey commences on Friday, 12th March, and is expected to be completed on Sunday, 21st March.

National Research Bureau, a professional organisation offering specialised services to Local Authorities throughout New Zealand, has been commissioned to undertake the study and report findings to Council.
