First Luxury Spa Resort Gets Development Approval

New Zealand's First Luxury Spa Resort Gets Development Approval

New Zealand's first purpose-built European-style spa has got the green light for construction with the granting of Resource Consent by the Thames Coromandel District Council.

The Orange Grove Spa is a three-level resort being developed on a former citrus orchard overlooking the Pauanui waterways. The development will comprise 54 villa style rooms that will be sold to investors.

The project is the brain child of, Rainer Hoehn, one of the country's most successful hotel entrepreneurs and founder of the multi award winning Puka Park Lodge.

Hoehn's mission is to develop a luxury resort at one of New Zealand's most popular beachside locations to give guests the opportunity to indulge themselves, "something the Europeans have been doing for centuries," says Hoehn.

"We are really excited the Coromandel community is fully behind this project and with strong interest already from investors, the Resource Consent gives us confirmation that we are now ready for action."

The five-star resort will place a strong emphasis on strengthening physical, mental and emotional health with facilities including two restaurants, saunas, fitness centres, indoor pool, a heated lap-pool and eight treatment rooms.

In the tradition of European Spas, The Orange Grove offers a wide range of hydrotherapy treatments utilising the healing qualities of water with the emphasis on result orientated treatments.

The Spa will be managed by highly skilled therapists with guests every whim considered in the planning stages.

Hoehn expects construction to begin within the next few months and The Orange Grove will open in the middle of next year.
