Final days for gold crate nominations

People have until Friday 23 April to nominate good recyclers in Christchurch City or Waimakariri District Councils for a gold recycling crate.

The Gold Crate campaign, designed to thank those recyclers who regularly put out the right, clean material for collection, had 2400 gold crates to distribute during February, March and April. Each week winners are selected from the list of households nominated and a gold crate delivered to them.

So far, more than 1450 crates have been delivered to recyclers from the 2100 nominations received since the campaign began in late January.

Nominations can be made until Friday 23 April by phoning 941 8830 or emailing waste@ccc.govt.nz or filling in a nomination form at any Council Service Centre in Christchurch City or Waimakariri District.

Background:

2400 golden crates will be awarded throughout Christchurch City and Waimakariri District, during February, March and April.

Each week winners will be selected from the list of households nominated and a golden crate delivered to them. Potential crate winners are people who take the effort to:

- clean jars and bottles – discard lids
- bundle paper in plastic shopping bags with handles tied
- flatten and bundle clean corrugated cardboard
- put out clean, squashed 1 and 2 plastics only
