Intercultural Assembly to hear Ngai Tahu perspective on treaty issues

The media are invited to hear Mark Solomon, Kaiwhakahare, Te Runanga o Ngai Tahu give Ngai Tahu’s view on treaty issues at the next meeting of the Christchurch Intercultural Assembly on Thursday 6 May, 5.30pm-7.30pm.

Jenni Marr, Christchurch City Council’s community adviser – multi-cultural, said that while most members of the Intercultural Assembly have a good knowledge of the Treaty, they have said they would like to be better informed about Ngai Tahu’s perspective on what the Treaty means for Maori.

Another item on the meeting agenda is a short presentation by members of the local Afghani community on aspects of Afghani culture and resettlement in New Zealand
