CMJ Traffic Bulletin: Sunday 9 May Until Friday 14 May

Transit New Zealand’s Central Motorway Junction upgrade project continues. There are significant closures affecting motorists over the coming week, these are outlined below:

CMJ Stage 1 Full motorway closures: All southbound lanes on the Southern Motorway through the Central Motorway Junction -CLOSED - in the early morning from 12midnight until 4am on Tuesday 11 and Wednesday 12 May.

Detour: for SH1 southbound traffic - off at Cook Street off-ramp and on at Khyber Pass on-ramp.

Ramp and link closures: Sunday 9 May – CLOSED – day and night from 7am to 6am on Monday morning: Khyber Pass off-ramp (SH1 northbound) Sunday 9 May – CLOSED – overnight from 8pm to 6am the following morning: Gillies Ave on-ramp (SH1 northbound)

Monday 10 May – CLOSED – overnight from 8pm to 6am the following morning: Hobson St on-ramp (SH1 southbound) Symonds St on-ramp (SH1 southbound) Port on-ramp (SH1 southbound) Wellesley St on-ramp (SH1 southbound) Gillies Ave on-ramp (SH1 northbound) Khyber Pass off-ramp (SH1 northbound) Northwestern to Southern Motorway link (SH16 to SH1 southbound)

Tuesday 11 May – CLOSED – overnight from 8pm to 6am the following morning: Hobson Street on-ramp (SH1 southbound) Symonds Street on-ramp (SH1 southbound) Port on-ramp (SH1 southbound) Wellesley Street on-ramp (SH1 southbound) Gillies Ave on-ramp (SH1 northbound) Khyber Pass off-ramp (SH1 northbound) Northwestern to Southern Motorway link (SH16 to SH1 southbound)

Wednesday 12 May – CLOSED – overnight from 8pm to 6am the following morning: Gillies Ave on-ramp (SH1 northbound) Khyber Pass off-ramp (SH1 northbound)

Thursday 13 May – CLOSED – overnight from 8pm to 6am the following morning: Gillies Ave on-ramp (SH1 northbound) Khyber Pass off-ramp (SH1 northbound)

Friday 14 May – CLOSED – day and night from 8pm Friday to 12pm Sunday morning: Port on-ramp (SH1 southbound) Wellesley Street on-ramp (SH1 southbound) Friday 14 May – CLOSED – day and night from 8pm Friday to 6am Monday morning: Port off-ramp (SH1 northbound) Wellesley Street off-ramp (SH1 northbound)

Local road closures: Khyber Pass Road between motorway ramps – CLOSED – day and night from 6am Sunday 9 May to 6am Monday 10 May and overnight from 8pm to 6am the following morning from Monday 10 May to Thursday 13 May.

Ongoing motorway lane closures: There will also be ongoing north and southbound lane closures at night on the Southern Motorway between the Gillies Ave on- and off-ramps and the Symonds St over-bridge from Sunday through Thursday nights until 2005.

Please choose alternative on- and off-ramps during these closures. Motorists are advised that there could be delays.

The CMJ Project Stage 1 of Transit’s Central Motorway Junction upgrade project covers the section of motorway between the Upper Queen St over-bridge and Gillies Ave on- and off-ramps and is scheduled for completion in 2005.

Stage 2 of Transit’s Central Motorway Junction upgrade project extends from Bond St on the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to the interface with CMJ Stage 1 near Symonds St and from Wellington St on the Southern Motorway (SH1) to Symonds St.
