BEAT THE WINTER BLUES WITH AN AQUA POOL PARTY
Young Howick and Pakuranga residents can celebrate the end of term whilst swimming in the depths of winter at An Aqua Pool Party in the heated pool at the Lloyd Elsmore Park Leisure Centre on the evening of Friday 2 July.
Darryl Hamilton, Senior Recreation Aquatics Programmer and organiser, is excited about the upcoming event. He says, "Our heated leisure pool is very popular at this time of the year, kept at 30 degrees. With safety always in mind, the pool will be manned by at least 4 qualified lifeguards.
"The $4 entry fee covers two hours of our inflatable Aqua Run and the latest Received: from GWMCC-MTA by fsgate.manukau.govt.nmusic from local DJ Andy Wilson. The café 'Splashes @ Lloyds', a popular feature of the Centre, will be open supplying children with snacks, drinks and ice cream. Parents can have a coffee, enjoy the music and chat with other parents in the café's pleasant ambience.
Prizes of netballs, soccer balls and cotton socks will be given out during the evening.
"Our previous Tweenies, ( the 'tween' age is 10 -14 years) Aqua Discos have been a great success, with over 100 intermediate kids turning up to enjoy the Aqua Run and making new friends from other local intermediate schools. Through this event, and others like it, Manukau City Council is providing well supervised, positive recreational activities for our young to keep them gainfully occupied during their leisure time.
"The Aqua party is open to all local intermediate schools, and it will be good to see our regulars and new faces are always welcome. See you there!"
