Funding assistance for heritage property owners

Funding assistance for heritage property owners July 29, 2004 North Shore City residents with heritage properties that need restoring have the opportunity to receive financial assistance for the repair work.

The North Shore Heritage Trust, which was set up by the North Shore City Council, is inviting people to apply for help with restoration projects.

The trust provides one-off grants of up to $5000 to help stabilise, repair or restore heritage homes, or prepare conservation plans and protect sites. The trust has already helped more than 15 property owners since its inception in 2002.

Its aim is to protect and support North Shore City's heritage while raising awareness and appreciation of the city's heritage buildings.

Applications for the next funding round close on Friday August 20.

All applications will be considered by the trust, which is chaired by Paddy Stafford-Bush, and includes North Shore City Councillor Tony Holman, as well as other local heritage experts and advocates.
