Storm Update: Surface Flooding & Slips In Hutt

SURFACE FLOODING & SLIPS IN HUTT CITY

There are a number of reports of surface flooding and slips in Hutt City. Motorists are advised to take extreme care on the roads and not to venture out unless its absolutely necessary.

As at 4pm today the following areas have been affected:

WAIWHETU Haywards Tce and Wainui Rd. Riverside Drive South CLOSED Bell Rd closed between Douglas St and Parkside Rd

SEAVIEW / EASTBOURNE Eastern Bays Marine Drive is now open Croft Grove - surface flooding Gracefield Road closed

WESTERN HILLS SH2 - slips and debris between Melling and Haywards SH2 - Maungaraki and Melling one lane north bound re-opened Slips on Korokoro Rd, Dowse Drive, Normadale Rd just above overbridge. Hill Rd blocked above Sweetarces Drive

WAINUI HILL RD - Gracefield Road on and off ramps closed.WAINUIOMATA Wainuiomata Hill Rd is now open but diversion in place Wainuiomata Rd closed between Davis St and Maire St south bound only. Wellington Rd closed between Whitehall and Enfield

NAENAE Waddington Drive closed between Shearer Crescent and Prouse Crescent

Council contractors have been working since the early hours of this morning clearing slips and unblocking culverts and drains. Some residents have been evacuated from Riverside Drive as a precaution.

Council's call centre has so far handled nearly 2000 calls from concerned residents.
