New operators announced for Parnell Baths

New operators announced for Parnell Baths

CLM Aquatics has secured the management and operation contract for Auckland’s popular Parnell Baths.

The company has a good track record in operating three other Auckland City Council facilities - Lagoon Leisure and Fitness Centre in Panmure, Phillips Aquatic Centre in Mt Albert and Sir William Jordan Recreation Centre in Onehunga.

Auckland City advertised for a new management team to run the redeveloped Parnell Baths in August after the previous operators decided not to renew their contract.

“We are pleased to award the contract to a New Zealand company which has proved it can run recreation and leisure facilities well,” says community planning group manager Mark Vinall.

“Two other companies also formally expressed interest in operating the Baths and all of the proposals were of a very high standard,” says Mr Vinall.

The director of CLM Aquatics, Joe Griffin, says his company is looking forward to launching into the summer season when the baths re-open in November.

“We are delighted to have secured the contract for the baths and all we need now is some good Auckland weather!” says Mr Griffin.

CLM Aquatics will now be responsible for all financial and operational management of the facility, including staffing, programming, marketing, health and safety, cleaning and maintenance.

“Over the next few weeks we’ll start advertising for summer staff and concentrate on getting the pools and programmes ready for people to enjoy,” says Mr Griffin.

Parnell Baths will re-open for the summer season in November and will remain open until the end of April.
