It’s time to get out and meet your neighbours

Neighbourhood Week (30 October – 5 November) starts tomorrow and is dedicated to forging closer relationships between the people who live in the same neighbourhood.

Christchurch City Council Assistant Community Adviser Tanya Ewins says it is a chance for people to get out and meet their neighbours.

“It is a chance to meet those people that you have often waved at but never taken the time to talk to properly.”

Some events organised for all to attend include:

A ‘Mums and Tots Walk’ is being held on Monday, 1 November. It begins at 10:30am at the Papanui Library/Service Centre on the corner of Langdons Road and Restells Street.

A North Hornby Neighbourhood Gala is happening on Saturday, 30 October from 2–8pm at Wycola Park, Wycola Avenue. Stage performances, music, local community stalls, hangi, big trucks, free bouncy castle, facepainting, free art workshops for children, free family fun races with prizes and a touch tournament.
