New payments system for Anzac Street car park

New payments system for Anzac Street car park

A new payments system and parking layout will be in place at North Shore City Council’s Anzac St car park, Takapuna from Monday November 22.

The car park will have a new layout designed to give pedestrians clear walking routes between the Westfield shopping complex, and shops on Hurstmere Rd, encouraging people to move throughout Takapuna. The new payment system requires people to take a ticket on entry, and pay at one of three payment stations throughout the car park. The system is the same as that operating in the nearby Killarney St car park.

The first hour of parking is still free, and charges will remain at current levels for those that stay up to three hours. To discourage all day parkers, prices rise for parking over three hours.

“The car park is designed to cater for shoppers, people who wish to come into Takapuna and have a look around the shops, not long-term stays. Assistants will be in the car park from now until Christmas to help people over the transition period,” North Shore City’s manager of transport operations and support services, Tom Morton, says.

“This is the completion of work that started last year in upgrading the facilities for those using the car park. With our Takapuna Community Board advising throughout the project, we see the changes as being extremely positive for Takapuna and a clear sign of the commitment to providing high quality facilities for people to use,” he says.

Regular users will be advised of changes through leaflets distributed on their cars.
